In Education 565, I have been exposed to many learning activities using
technology to enhance instruction in my own classroom. I hope to
use many of my created projects in the fall--WebQuest: Owl Pellets, Hyperstudio:
Egyptian Numeration System, Encarta/World Atlas Software Project, and the
different groups and quizzes created at Funbrain and Yahoo. I most
enjoyed creating my Owl Pellet WebQuest.
In this WebQuest activity, students will need to measure and disect their
own barn owl pellets. Without any background information, students
will need to answer questions to determine what is in the owl pellet (digested
and undigested) and about the owl's diet and environment.
Later, after looking over background information and bone sorting charts,
students will need to answer more questions about what type of prey was
in their pellet, where the pellets are likely to be found, and how to reconstruct
the prey skeletons from their pellet.
